In our latest video, the team take you inside the capabilities we’ve built to deliver data centres at scale: how we’ve structured our design and construction team, how we’re responding to shifting customer demands and how local engagement and sustainability-first thinking are baked into every project from day one.
Foundations first
In 2024, we opened our Dublin office as a dedicated hub for design and construction. It’s where engineering, strategy and delivery come together. Having all of our specialists under one roof fosters faster collaboration, sharper problem solving and greater alignment with customer needs.
As Roger Gough, our Director of Engineering, explains: “We’ve built an in-house team with the structure and scalability to match customer demand – not just now, but over the next five years.”
This includes a headcount model that gives us the flexibility to scale up project teams across markets without compromising quality or consistency.
Ready for what’s next
Customer requirements are shifting fast – especially when it comes to rack densities. What was once three kilowatts per square metre is now trending north of eight. Our building design accommodates that shift, with the structural flexibility to support both conventional and high-density AI deployments.
We’re also addressing challenges beyond the rack.
As Mark Dolan, Chief Strategy and Acquisitions Officer, puts it: “We’re mindful of the big questions facing our sector – from access to power, to policy and sustainability. We want Apto to be part of the solution.”
Local knowledge, European ambition
Across Europe, our success depends on being truly present. That means investing in local teams who can engage with utilities, environmental bodies and planning authorities to unlock power, secure permits and navigate complex regulatory processes.
Russell Poole, Apto CEO, reinforces the point: “The most successful projects are always the ones with strong local expertise. That’s why we’re embedding that into our own team model.”
