Apto joins the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact, strengthening its commitment to sustainability

Apto, a provider of world-class hyperscale data centres across Europe, has signed up to the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact (CNDCP), further reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. By joining this initiative, Apto pledges to actively contribute to the goals set by the Pact, which align with the European Green Deal.

The initiative aims to make Europe climate neutral by 2050, harnessing technology and digitalisation to drive significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. As part of this effort, over 100 data centre operators and trade associations, including Apto, are committed to making data centres climate neutral by 2030.

The Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact sets a framework for the data centre industry, recognising its crucial role in shaping Europe’s sustainable future. Apto’s participation reflects its commitment to meeting the very latest standards in energy efficiency and sustainable practices in every project.

Francisco Mingorance, Board Member of the CNDCP, welcomed Apto’s involvement, stating: “We are thrilled to have Apto join the CNDCP. By joining, they’re making a big commitment toward sustainability and helping us reach our goal of climate neutral data centres by 2030. It’s great to welcome a new player in Europe joining us on this shared journey to build a more responsible and sustainable digital future.”

Apto’s commitment to sustainability is central to its approach in designing and building hyperscale data centres in emerging and high-growth markets. It is committing to reducing its carbon footprint by maximising energy efficiency and minimising environmental impact. Apto’s data centre design blueprint integrates leading environmental practices, including renewable energy sourcing, waterefficient cooling technologies and effective recycling.

Roger Gough, Chief Development Officer of Apto, commented: “Joining the CNDCP is a natural progression in our commitment to sustainability. As a relatively new entrant, we have the unique opportunity to design, build and operate to the very latest environmental standards from day one. We’re focused on delivering hyperscale data centres that not only meet the demands of our customers and the digital economy, but also doing so in the most sustainable manner possible.”
